This is a beautiful homage to a warm memory of an innocent time. Knickerbocker glories were such a luxury for me as a child. I’m in Ireland and I remember a diner opening up in my town owned by a “real American “🤣🤣. So, the ice-creams were the real deal. Thank you for this trip down memory lane.
Oh wow yes that’s my era great to hear that you have been inspired by these amazing writers from a time when their inspiration was so different from today’s. Music has been a big enjoyment for me so song lyrics have been inspirational and spreads the written word for all to enjoy.

Although this poet had a different style a poet that I’ve enjoyed is Roger McGough who started writing in the 1960’s.

A lot of my early writing influences were from same period. Visionaries of the time. Jim Morrison, Ginsberg, Kerouac, even Hunter S Thompson.
Lovely beautiful poetry has a place in society that elevates the written word.
What a wonderful comment. Thank you so much.
Thank you for your comment it’s so nice to hear poetry these days long may it continue.
Well I can promise you, it's written from the heart, not by a machine.
Also by someone who's loved poetry since 14 (now ... unfortunately... a lot older)
My favorite lines are:
“The body had always known
what the decades pretended to forget.”
You built up to them beautifully.
thanks, it's an event I've approached in other ways previously in other poems, and likely will again. Maybe not with as much fun as this one. Maybe...
